A New Tall Tale Musical Retells the MN Story of Paul Bunyan from Lucette's Perspective ... & the Animals
"Lucette! Paul Bunyan Meets His Match" is a lively tale of lumberjacks, trees, animals, and two giants at odds with each other. Who will get the best of whom? And will Paul pass Lucette's tricky love tests?
This musical, born in the north woods, reflects its long history that includes the animals and native nations that first lived in the area, and how the forests changed with the coming of the logging, farmers, and towns. It's tough for everyone to get along, but Lucette comes in to work her tall tale magic, and Paul's falling for her big time. One of the performers proclaimed, "Lucette's the new Lorax!"
Librettist Marybeth Lorbiecki, Composer Owen Paul Olson worked with Director Dr. Kathy Welch to workshop this new work to audience acclaim. Dr. Welch, an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the co-founder of Green T Productions and co-owner of the Old Gem Theater.
